I remember trying to get out for hours it seemed!!!!!!!!!!!!! but knew well enough from bodyboarding that the waves were perfect...... Never got out that day, hooked ever since...........Also remember the sunline boards on the 2nd corner.... Ler's boards maybe??? 56th street and Haydu was the place to be on a south....never forgot the dude with the black board....worked at Albertsons on the night shift "83" or so...You around???? Fossil Man wrote:Definitely some serious kneeboard history at the pier; I remember you could walk in " George's Surf Center " ( mid-70's) on main street and there toward the back of the shop was a couple of double-sided racks with nothin but kneeboards !
Anybody remember 'SEASKI'?
I had one custom made in '73 - $75 WOW!!
Tiki, I remember Sea Ski very well, got my first custom kb there, a swallow tail shaped by Steve Walden followed by a couple of his wingtails and even a bonzer, then a winged fish in '74 shaped by Ron Lingenfelter when he took over the shop when Steve bailed HB and went to the North Shore. That fish was absolute magic. Speaking of George's got my first kb there, an El Paipo Knee Ski twin fin, what a piece of crap that was, but I loved it.
