Yep, beaches were fun. At least I could get more covered up than the LB friends. First time on a KB since last month.

When all else seems flat, there's a little ray of hope. Nothing big, but a few bars working.

Yesterday, Don and I went out around the Chalet. He got out... straight back out from where we started. In the fog, I ended up drifting unknowingly until Seal Rock was in my face.

At dawn today, it was slightly humid and clear. Oily-glass with the setting full moon reflecting off of occassional shoulder-high waves. However, they were bowly and had enough to make it fun.

NICE day out there now. Winds look to be a little bit on the incline as I left.

Since it seems to be shark week... both days had lollygagging seals that would come by for a game of locking eyeballs. I won every time... :D  Yes, there were some lulls.

Didn't see baitballs. A few flocks of pelicans and the odd pod of dolphins/porpoises...

Mellow. Not many guys out. Easy paddle.

Watch the wind and swell forecast for tomorrow. The pattern is supposed to break. If it was any smaller, it wouldn't have been worth it. Also, note the low, low tide in the AM. It was pretty drained, but improved on the push.

Wino, sorry I missed you. Hope you found some fun! Willy, got your message... will call!

Did my AM workout at Rio/Seacliff, which gives me a good vantage point when I do the stairs. Can see down the coast and up to The Point.

MMMmmmmm oily glass; waves under 12", though.

HB 17th st this afternoon (rideable waves means there is no flat spell) 1-4' just after taking one of santa's flock to the processor (3x3 muley for those in the know). the way i see it im the hunted and a hunter either way im not gonna stress about it  . look foreward to tomorow and not wearing a fully ( over reacted on the water temp change).

Colorado was excellent! 8) no waves but lots of nature and Hiking at 8200' +

good to be home and in my element

Just back from a fine week at Buxton and Rodanthe. Friday 24th was one of the best days since the May swell in the East, well OH in the AM, and held up thru an offshore wind switch at chest+ Sat. Serious fun on the new Schoelkopf I brought home from SD :D

Hit the beaches early this AM to beat the descending Labor Day Weekend hordes. It was galssy and overhead - wait........ I was laying down on my KB. Bigger waves had 3'-4' faces.

I surfed without my swimfins to give my arms a workout. Got a ton of dinky waves on 6'0".

I met up with frankfqr this morning down south of Manresa. Looked
at boards and talked shop for a couple of hours - good to meet you
Frank!

Then out for a surf - spent a good 3 1/2 hours out and caught
a truckload of little south swell waves. Tired and sunburned
but it was fun.

When I got out and was changing we saw a HUGE baitball of
anchovies about a quarter mile off the beach - the water was
just boiling with millions of little fish and a cloud of seagulls
diving and feeding on them. It must have been at least a
hundred yards in diameter. That's the stuff that is bringing the
predators in close to shore.

Huricane Dean is working over the Atlantic, nailing the former windsurfing capitol of Aruba. Dean is the strongest hurricane to hit land in the Atlantic region since 1988, forecasters said.
Let's see if it brings me waves. :D

Scott, glad you surfed safely since the landlord was visiting last week. Did you see Frank's Batboard?
