surf on Monday

Post by DarcyM »

Looked up and down the coast on Monday, but at high tide the reefs were shut down and the strong south was passing every other place by. Could see there was swell so I went up coast to O'side. Pier looked miserable. Even the Harbor at the first lot was dismal. But looking north to the jetty there seemed to be something going on down there. Sure enough, pulled into the end lot and there were more waves down there. Just as I was ready to get in the water a set came through and this guy got a screaming overhead left!

The sets were inconsistent and really showing the steep south swell, 'bout every 20 minutes and some were close outs. Not much in between, but there were some fun ones. Got a couple for myself. Water super warm. A couple of drop ins, but overall the vibe was cool. Pretty nice considering it was probably the only place in San Diego county showing waves. 8)

had to opt for the afternoon session today as i am packing for my trip. 8-10' shark? that is pretty poor :x if they are gonna clear the water at RJ's for a shark it had better be at least 15-20'. Those nor-cal guys would laugh at that lol 8) Are you sure it wasnt a finned turd escaped from the water treatment plant?

Surfed with Beeline today from 7am till 2:30pm on the northside of the HB pier. Nice waves around 10am. 6ft -7ft faces. Inconsistent before that, kinda mushy. Mutiny was taking pics :D
Going back out tomorrow HB, maybe south side bowl! 8)

Land surfed the Chino skate park Tuesday with Barry, Big Fred, Mutiny, his son, and friend. Concrete was glassy smooth, bowls were 9-10ft faces. Going to Upland Wed. afternoon, should me more of the same.

Got to be close to record highs in water temp in San Diego this August. 77 deg F recorded yesterday.

Weather reports state we may even get some rain from Hurricane/Tropical depression Dean by this weekend if it follows projected storm track north west up the Gulf of California.

Darcy,

You were right about the north jetty (O'Side Harbor). I stopped by Tuesday evening to see a nice HH set rolling thru. Nothing above waist high anywhere else.
