Here in Ventura it has been the worst ever...no question. For the last 5 months I have been swimming 4 days a week for an hour.I keep waiting for some surf so I don't have to swim so much...NOTHING, just junk....... I'm 52 and in probably the best shape of my life. Ready for some Juice!!!!!!

The last decent wave in San Diego (north) was on July 8th.
Its been a great summer for the kids and my wife to play with their soft boards.

While it certainly has sucked for S/SW swells, we've had consistently ridable wind swell up here for most of the summer. I don't think I've gone more than two weeks without getting wet since early May. Some days have certainly been marginal, but enough to at least get in the water paddling. Other summers have had four-six week periods of NOTHING but ripples.

Hardly a classic year here in the south of Japan either. Can anyone whip a Typhoon or two? Please?

Cornwall has been pretty bad this summer too...apart from a few south coast swells.
It often seems to be the case that when California has a good season we do as well.....got to be some link even though we are oceans apart.

But summer is traditionally the time to work one's behind off and save up bucks so the winter months can be spent in a tropical wave zone........at least, that was the case when we were younger. It was an annual migaration from Santa Cruz County to Baja and/or Mainland Mex.

Now we just wait around here until fall kicks in, the north swells take over and the thickness of the neoprene increases with each month.

I think the flat spell should be over any time now. I'm back in school teaching so, of course, there are going to be waves.
