jim did it look like it was worth the paddle? if i am going out in less than ideal(much less) conditions it still needs to have that thump factor
sf as far as pics i have some alittle bit older (1-2 years) on print, but i'm not the most computer literate person to scan then upload
i will give it a try soon
new ones are hard to get when you show up at dawn to beat the sponging masses and leave by 8-9. it would be nice to have my own personal photog to follow you around though
i'll see what i can do

Spent Weds- Sunday at Jalama. Not a stellar surf trip but a great camping trip with my wife. Not much fog but windy most of the time (Jalama - duh!). Air temp warm to hot. Water temp had dropped and was chilly.

Me and Barger hit Baja Malibu sunday morning and it was doing its thing
Glassy top-to-bottom OH grinders with the famous 10kt south-swell current

You basically had time for 3 waves until you had to get out, walk a mile back up the beach and paddle back out for more punishment
Good times!
A second paddle-out at Calafia yielded no results to speak of. Gorgeous glassy sunny day and the swell was getting in, but the tide was too low.

I'm going to be driving down from San Jose to the Huntington/Newport area tomorrow (Wednesday) around noon or 1:00 p.m. Anyone available for a surf around there about that time or the early afternoon? I don'[t know the spots down there very well.
Would be fun to have a friend/guide...
You could PM with a cell phone if you want me to call you and discuss details.

Hey Scott,
Just to give you a heads up, Newport lifeguards have been flying the unhappy face (blackball) right around noon, depending on the crowds. Lately they've been keeping them up till about 4:30 or 5:00pm, once again, depending on the swimmers. Your best bet may be Huntington, just not around the pier, (some kind of stand-up dog and pony show going on). The good news is there's plenty of southern hemi and tropical swell in the water, so if you do happen to find a spot and a parking place you should have something to ride. Good luck and good hunting...
