Florida has a big swell running all week but it's sadly driven by a tight pressure gradient between a strong high pressure to the North and Tropical Storm Noel to the South. I surfed today and had to pick and chose which overhead waves were not going to be closeouts. I went out only because the rest of the week is predicted to be 12-17" seas with onshore winds up to gale force.
October in Florida= Onshore windswell with just a few days of light winds.
In Florida. we take what we can get, but this month has been pretty ugly.

Eric, I heard about Noel. I wish I could pick and choose which "overhead waves" would not be closeouts, all I have to pick from is ankle biters, to knee high

No problema. It's up to 3-5' on the south facing beaches, but kinda blown out. Heading for Bogue Banks dawn patrol Friday.

Sorry Kava, John Coleman is calling this one a "SOSA" - which all San Diego guys know is a "Sort Of Santa Ana".

Not a big wind event (cept maybe in Baja)... just gorgeous surfing weather.

Fun day today in southern NC as the winds forecast did not materialize- stayed light offshore all day. Surfing alone most of the day until the kids got out of school, so no pics yet. Waves waist to chest, air 82F, water still an amazing 74F. I did see two little 3' sharks, seemed to be more interested in bait than me, so I braved it and stayed out - probably should be more concerned about all the bluefish in the water.

Really walled up and closed out today. Dang swell was not that big. Pushing
straight in from the west, no angle. nothing but walled, closeouts....

No big storm surf or runoff yet to set up the bars. The beach is all shelfed
off, no holes to be had.

scored killer baja, 5-6+ sets @ puta's feo, and 4-6' peaky walls at pink gash-deep tubes, screamin'walls. Puta's was screamin',fast walled up right's. While I surfed, my friends sedated the local mexican crew and we had all the set waves! Viva Mexico!!!
