Just checked the numbers in my tidebook.17 days for the month of jan.Managed a few day of work somehow.. [personal record 22]Only two of those were marginal, size and condition.
The latest swell started last thursday. It was the biggest day.Sets a few ft overhead[conservative] Thurs a tad smaller, yesterday about the same.Today was a corker!!Paddled out a little after 7am,ran into kenM
Surfed the drift,[quinn the eskimo's been here]with very few people,Just the two of us for over an hr..sat... :shock:Swell a bit smaller but that little south underneath was a little bonus, made them a bit wedgy.Sets were a bit overhead, good ones going all the way thru the inside. It's an estuary, and the incoming tide push is going 1-3kts,it's can be a bitch of a paddle.[don't mention flippers please..]
Kenny sat inside and picked off the tail ends[best part of the wave]Saw him get some from the outside peak all the way thru.Got out at 12:45...little over 5 hrs......OHHHHH That beer tasted good :D

Got a SW starting on monday, peaking on tues, then a WNW starting on thurs, peaking on fri....May be some weather in there,We''ll see

cheers!

Santa cruz,please check in....

Hola Hermano's - hate to brag, but the surf here in S.D. has been insane..I've spent the last 4 days in Baja Norte...1 big day at Todos Santos surfing Killers & Chickens...10-15', 3 days at San Miguel 6-8' + and last weekend, never had to leave The People's Republic of Ocean Beach...had Chasem's to ourselves for 4 days and it never got under 6'...a couple of day's 8-10'....met a couple of younger kber's and turned them onto this site and they seemed stoked!!!

It's -6 degrees here, and still flat. Haven't seen the ocean since Santa Cruz  :(

Today is my wife's birthday. Tomorrow, I go in to get a cortizone shot to my L-5 vertabrae, followed by a lot of re-hab.

She suggested we cruise the coast on the way to her folks.

What a beautiful day! The San Mateo coastline was glassy/slightly offshore with the little nuggets like ScottMac posted.

Lots of the normally out-of-control exposed reefs were clean with NO takers. The first surfers in the water wasn't until South of Ano.

My wife asked me if I'd surf if I could. Without a board and wetsuit, on her birthday, with the kids and injured, I said she better not slow down!

I'd love to have a bottle of this for June! Nothing huge or epic... just beautiful.

My garden, landscaping and trees need a nice drenching. And that relates directly to the sand bars down the hill from my house.

I just hope it holds off until late Tuesday. I have over $40K worth of cabinets being installed in my band room starting at 6 AM tomorrow. We had a 75F degree day yesterday. Figures things would go south at the worst possbile time.
