I took the day off and surfed up north of town this morning. Some
decent south swell and glassy/overcast conditions. Some nice 6'-8'
faces and long bowly rights. Only 3 or 4 other people out all morning.

I got bounced off an underwater rock pretty hard after getting pitched
trying to make it through a section, almost made it around and
up into it!! It was low tide and lot's of boils showing, smacked the back
of my right calf into a rock while spinning through.

Saw my standup friend do the same thing a while later- too far back
and just got drilled in shallow water. He was standing on a rock shelf
a little over knee deep when he came up.

Been off all week doing home projects and catching some morning waves
I finally got some excellent surf all by myself for 4 hours in glassy conditions on wed. First time I had ever surfed this locale. Hollow grinders!
The sw hemi swell that was supposed to hit today was a huge bust!
Onshore and 2 ft. I was dreaming of that same spot from wed but not happening. Sounds like it was clean up north!
I'm hoping tomorrow is the day, but forecast is showing some possible morning onshore again.
Recieved a sweet package today. . . a brand new Blast straight off the fed ex truck!!
So worth the wait!!
Happy trails. . .

Much better at the beaches up here today than yesterday. More push
today from the south - yesterday had a lot of steep NW windswell
mixed into it making a big rip right through the peak and the tide
was too low when I went out.

This morning I waited for the tide to fill in and it paid off. The early
morning crew were getting out of the water when I paddled out and
I ended up getting this looong left to myself for about an hour and a
half. 5'-6' on the face and fairly consistent for a south swell. Thinking
about an evening sesh tonight if the conditions are right! 8)

The s hemi was a bust as I thought -too s of an angle for up here, though somehow a strange one would come thru. . .
Got 3 of the best waves in a while on sat at a spot I had never surfed before. Was actually better on the minus tide!! Surfed by myself for three hours so though the sets were inconsistent, they were all mine!!
I have found my low tide spot for the southies!!
One can still explore up here and though the water is freezing, it won't get you sick :(
Best session in a while (wed was good too)
Neat story: After 3 hours finally a guy paddled out very apologetically.
He told me a great story. Apparently two guys were pondering going out but told him they didn't have the heart to ruin my solo session!! I was having the BEST time!!(the look out is a bit of a hike from the spot)
That just put an altruistic smile on my face!! Imagine in this day and age of surf craziness!! To choose to NOT paddle out so someone else could enjoy!! Blew my mind!
Made me want to go share a wave and smile ! Which I did
Have a great week bros!!
Aloha

The S hemi swell hit places in San Diego like, South Bird, Windansea, and Blacks. Waves were 3-4ft. Tide was super low at dawn but it got better latter in the morning.
