I disagree completely, kid. The problem arises when people DEMAND that one choose a side. And if you don't choose their side, become obsessed with knocking down that which they perceive as the other side.
All these sides are irrelevant.
We are all kneeboarders.
Beeline - I'm sorry for the flak. It is the Internet, though, and you have always been quick to give answers and insight which is both valuable and appreciated. Sadly, your frequent contributions put you in the spotlight where some folks obviously felt put out by not being in the spotlight. Their problem, really, not yours. It's like sitting in the front row makes you a target, it's stupid and childish, but again ... it's the Internet. I hope you will return in time.

Darcy,
no disrespect intended, but when I stated that "I believe the real problem lies in when kneeboarders start picking "sides"; you state "all these sides are irrelevant. We are all kneeboarders."
That is exactly the point I was attempting to make..."sides are irrelevant". Again, if you had read my entire post, you would have seen that I stated that I DO NOT agree with how some opinions are articulated in a disrespectful manner. In essence, I fully agree with your opinions.
And I thank you for stating your disagreement in an agreeable fashion.
"So if you want to kneeboard, find the hollowest waves you can, ride as short of a board as possible and go fast and deep. If you want to slip and slide, twist and jerk, go for air then stand up and do it. Let’s keep kneeboarding sacred."

Hey I like this misc. questions thread....who started it??? Must be a genious . Ok another question, I pulled the Parkes pads off my board and probably didnt wait until it warmed enough, now I am left with a huge amount of adhesive on the board...comes off slowly by picking at it but I will be 90 when finished. Does anybody know if goof off would harm the board itself???(chemical reaction to the resin or something) I think it will come right off with a little "something" but could use some ideas ...Thanks, KEL
I'm doing the same thing. Cracked the rail of my board on a big reo and have to pull one pad off to fix it properly. I don't know what great glue Parkes uses but the pads are almost part of the board.
Tried almost everything out there, and goof off worked the best.Won't harm the board in any way.Warming the deck in the sun helps.I used a painters scraper with a single edge blade...Good luck!
Yep this IS a great thread. Not sure if it will work on Parkes' supaglue any better than Headwaxes teeth but I would try one of those solvents made from orange peels, or Sticky Bumps wax remover, they wont harm your board. I'm thinking the Goof Off will work but I'd test it on a board you don't mind messing up, just in case. Now all you have to do is borrow somebody elses board. Kel, were the pads salvagable or did you take them off in small pieces?
Tried them all...Goof off is the best, will not harm your board.[Smells highly toxic]Taken off two sets of parkes, and reglued them on other boards.Trust me,I would not lead you astray....
cheers.

Oh yea...sounds real easy , Redwing sold me some stuff called tufftoe....real easy to put on, saves the toes on your work boots...didnt tell me the stuff hardens in about 3 seconds...(oh by the way the boots cost about a buck80) I will try the goof off....on my boots first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the advice Mr. K
Another thought:Both boards that had the pads removed,[Both parkes-bumps and the diagonals]had sanded gloss finish,Impervious to ''most'' solvents.A few of my earlier boards had an acrylic finish for weight reduction.Certain solvents, acetone especially will disolve the acrylic.
And.. the second board I covered the topside[for insulation]and left just left the front pads exposed[Did the same thing with the rear pads later]
The hotter the better, within reason. The glue softens, and becomes quite tacky.I was able to lift the pads off easily,in small increments, with the help of a painters scraper with single edged blade. Both pads off in less than 15min..... with a ''bit'' of cleanup of course.Ok!I'm done ....
