Surf Report 2009

Pleasure Point is a fun 4'-5' with well overhead waves every couple of sets.
Broke my old habit and KB'ed at 38th Ave. - Longboard Land. Big, peeling walls and super long rides w/ fast sections.

Waves are showing all along the coast to Capitola and even south of that.
High tide is about 5:30 at 4.8 so it should get better towards sunset.

It's been good in Santa Cruz for weeks. Every swell has been bigger than predicted. When will it stop? I hear after this one it will be flat for quite a while...

Same up here... endless!Finally gagged yesterday,stayed away from the beach which is right down the block... :lol: Cracked it this am for a quickie.2-3+sets, little left/right zippers.Home by 9am...poached eggs on toast,fresh ground coffee...Life is good!

Actually turned out pretty good on Friday, models were all over the place until the last hours, so I didn't make the drive. Hurricane season is here, there's always hope on the horizon. Shaping a paipo to make up for the lack of swell....

Best day of surf in a long while. Nice sets from the So. Actually got to use my quad fish. That board just loved those waves. Surfed all by myself for 3.5 hours!
Gotta love being on vacation!!
Up to Santa Cruz for the rest of the week.House sitting for my brother in Opal cliffs. Maybe i'll see someone out there. Hope to try out my new board!!

Sure some of you guys down south must be scoring too if it was this good up here.

Pretty decent weekend at the reefs.Looked to be 120+ downtown at the zooarama.Sunday/mon less than a dozen on 4 peaks at the reef.Glassy warm 3-5,deserted north coast beach.. :) Lunch break was breaded,fried abalone with sweet\sour sauce.
Small increase in the south today.Surfed the channel left with a handful of miscreants.2-4,fun lefts.Water warmed up nicely.Local fisherman popped a 20+lb white seabass,and several nice halibut.Fat city!.threshers are around also.Slashing the water right outside the break chasing bait.Heard they're catching tuna off monterey already.Pretty early.Big pool of warm water sloshed across the pacific from west to east.Water temps off south/central america are warmer than usual.Good for those souths that we all like..Except maybe for jerry up there in oregon,don't think they get that far... :(

Hey K, spotted a sea otter amidst all that flotsom in the channel Sunday. Don't tell the local fishermen.
