A lot of people are making a lot of money out of popularising surfing to the masses. Perhaps it would be more fruitful (and positive) to withdraw your support to those companies and cut the overcrowding problem off at the (marketing) head, rather than burning your mates. Just learn to differentiate between people who may be a problem and ones who are tuned in to playing it cool.
Yes great statement Red. Reminds me of all the kids wearing the Hollister shirts out here, and they have no clue what it is/was, the history of the place.
It's hard to remember waves from last month, but I can remember surfing with Mutiny, Fred, and Barry in PV, and riding those beach horses in Ventura like it was last week.

Secret spots??? please.....and Colombus discovered america too. I cant tell you how many times, when I have traveled in the 3rd world, that if not for a kind surfer going the opposite way, I would have missed epic waves. Some dudes told me to turn off the highway on this dirt road in Mexico once and go to the little village, we would be stoked. Few years later they were calling it the mexican pipeline.

Friends dont let friends surf JUNK.

I live on the Surf Coast in Victoria these days and have a "quiet spot" that I surf with a mate most weekends. It's not secret because when I gets crowded, there can be up to 6 guys on the break. Originally from South Australia, you could spend a year on that coastline and never surf every break. Secret spots are numerous and often so isolated they are downright spooky. Secret spots exist. You'll not find these unless you become a "local" or spend the time doing the research.
