Hey Guy's,
I've been thinking about this for the last couple of day's,

Just because were riding "Simon's Hypothetical boards" does'nt mean we're gonna be able to replicate HIS surfing.....
TALENT,there's a word no-one's mentioned.

I could jump on Valentino Rossi's bike and still be 3 day's slower
I could jump on Kelly Slater's board and still would'nt be able to stand-up
I could pick up a planer and still make a block of foam.........
and a lot of dust....
should I go on.........

sorry, but I for one don't think this Idea would work.

why bring more conformity to a contest? it's like bringing sand to the beach
or is it the conformity of equipment makes the individuals style more apparent. :?:
i like the idea of a demolition derby where everyone is armed with a 10' soft surfboards and the guy who knocks of the most other guys wins.
drop ins = .5 point
run over someone =2 points
ect.....

the demolition derby sounds interesting
and almost possible

there is a long board circuit here in OZ
and if you stretched your imagination just enough

and based on the adds I see for two peice long boards - for travelling
what if the sponsor/advertiser were developing a SOFT 2 peice long board
8)
and wanted to demostrate the toughness, safety and rideability of their new product

an expression session ... demolition derby
just before the final would get people watching and probably lead to sales
and as part of it
... put the maximum number of longboards on the same wave, ala Gidget
there is something quite enjoyable about watching longboards get tangled up with each other

so to bend (flex) Greg's comp just a little
a Signature Series World Champ Soft Kneeboard expression session with the 10 top Kneelos
to tap into the Kids and BB market
obviously this needs to be done deep in the retail Christmas period
??
well that would work for OZ cos that's our summer but might not work so well in the northern half of the globe

Although the idea of pop outs and mass produced kneeboards is plain dirty (you're a dog for putting the image in our minds budgie :D ) it got me thinking...

Any one model (planshape, fin position, fin numbers, rocker, contours) would never work for kneeboarders in the same way it does for standups - we're just too different. So could we have a different a different board for each leg of the contest. e.g. a single-fin slab for the first, a tri for the second, a fins forward quad for the third, a twin keel for the fourth etc. etc. I reckon that would be quite fun for all parties.

hey TOMWAY

I like your thought patterns

I learnt to be a kneeboarder on aslab single then moved on to a twinfin and then a thruster

sounds like fun ocz I havent riden a single slab for more than a quarter of acentury

Almost on topic. This one for Scottymac, who was worried about the branding on the surfboards...

I bring you "The Charman Mao Kneeboard".

Should be good for one leg of the contest? Maybe the one in China. ;)

Thanks for the kind remarks gentlemen. Sometimes it's conforting to know I am not the only crazy one.

Yes, Kev a single fin with slight deformations would make it more suitable!

Sorry about your monitor Scottmac. :)

I want some flippers like those sfkneelo! (maybe not to wear in public ...)

Sorry to go off topic Budgie!

Yeah, SFKneelo! Thats the ticket. The contest would naturally be with a running start from the beach........... a long running start! Extra points for makeup.
