Especially when you're up high on the wave (wiggling but re-entering) and you're giving the whole line up behind you an ass-wiggle shot.

When in doubt, trust your rail.

It really is two different thing: apples & seaweed.
Contest surfing is much different than we normal KBers. Its just nice to know what one can expect if one enters a contest.
Although my only objective is to hang out with all your freaks! Is this how Moses felt about 'his People'?

hands on rail
I was shocked to hear in the first post on this subject about the judges' instructions on rail grabs. None of the contestants were privy to this knowledge, and if they were I know a large hue and cry would have arisen from a number of us there. Judging criteria should be explained to all participants. At the worlds in Tahiti it was announced to all competitors that they were looking for the most radical and progressive maneuvers, as well as tube time (as far as I remember). I have been kneeboarding since 1968, when kbing was just starting to take off here, and style was never an issue, it was whether you made the barrel or not. I am one of the very few left that use handles on my board. I find that they allow me to torque the board harder on turns, giving me more drive off the bottom and quicker direction change on cutbacks. They're also very useful during el rollos and kamikaze airdrops! Some may think it's a kook item, but it has worked for me for over 38 years! I don't care if you use your rails or not, but it shouldn't be a judging criteria.

Hands on the rail
Last weekend my brother Danny came by with his wife and two little girls. We decided we were going to take them down to the playground in my neighborhood.
I took the three year old Lilly and Danny took the other. Lilly and I decided to take the skatebaord as our means for transportation.
Lilly laid on the skate baord and I pushed her from behind. You never saw a happier kid! She was laughing and screaming going down the side walk. "Faster, faster" she screamed.
Danny saw what we were doing and yelled back, "Lilly try standing up on it".
Lilly, still in the prone position and having one hand on the rail and the other out to her side like an airplane wing, yelled back "Noooo............it's more fun this way"!
I think you all get the point.
