ive been looking around swaylocks, and do you really need a stringer for a 5'9" about 3 inch kb? some guys on swaylocks are making stringer less boards and they say the flex is unreal! ive herd if you make a board thick enough, that it wont snap, just because the thickness of the foam and the glass surrounding it.
I was also talking to my art teacher, and he was working on a routed stringer, where almost 80% of where the stringer would be is gone, and just a little piece of foam holding it. than he said hes going to take some chop and resin and while glassing put it in the crevice creating a stringer.
let me know what you think.

If boards snap with little effort with stringers what do you reckon they`ll do without one, rovings or not.

hansel, I have two stringerless fishes that I really love. They're both shaped by the same person, a friend of mine. The boards do flex, but nothing like what a spoon will do. To me the boards seem to be alot more livelier than my other boards that have stringers. Unfortunately, no matter how thick you make the board, a heavy wave like Big Rock will even snap a 3-stringer board in two. I've seen it happen

I've been riding stringerless boards for 8 -10 years now & never had one snap, Although they are styrene blanks which are lighter & weaker than std blanks, the secret is epoxy & carbon fiber which give heaps of lateral strength but also flex when you need it, they surf light too, corky easy to paddle duck diving is unreal & fast AB

interesting, like you guys said, everything will fail when it gets to a point. i actually use epoxy and i think its "E cloth" witch is the stronger cloth, i think a step before carbon fiber.
i saw a picture on here a while back, with a all carbon board and those crazy fcs 3d fins, it was one of the best boards ive seen. so i think ill just go stringer less, and i hope to get some pics up after i cut my rockers.
